Moon - First woman on the moon
In this project, I was more concerned with the questions than the answers. Who knows, maybe you will find your answer?
Neil Alden Armstrong was the first human to ever set foot on the moon on July 21st, 1969.
But why?
Why couldn’t it have been a woman?
Why couldn’t it have been a Person of Color?
Or both?
These are the questions at the beginning of the Moon Project.
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to let the first woman land on the moon? And what if it would be a person of color?
That is exactly what I did and in this way I questioned why this should only be possible today.
The moon landing was over 50 years ago. Back then, racism, sexism and gender inequality were part of everyday life. Today a lot has changed for the better, which makes me happy. But these characteristics are still deeply rooted in our society. We must change this. Together. For good
„Moon“ is a statement against all these very characteristics.
For every human being that still isn’t treated fair in this world.
For equality and progress
And most of all,
The project was created last summer. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing I asked myself why the first man on the moon was a white man. I am not someone who sees racism, sexism or gender inequality in every detail. Nevertheless this question led me to ask my good friend Joanita Sidi, artist and dancer from Zurich, if she would like to be part of this project. That is how "Moon" came into being. The video shows a dark-skinned woman re-enacting the first steps on the moon. The moon is represented by a 270cm x 205cm acrylic painting, which I made myself on wood. The song in the background was also produced by myself by the artist name Uzual Suzpect. The very successful shots and the ingenious editing of the video is thanks to Florian Herzog, who accompanied me with his camera during the project.
This project was definitely one of the most intensive I have done so far. It was exhausting and tiring but above all, it was beautiful. The hundreds of hours of work until late at night have left their marks for sure, but I think they are slowly gone untill now.

Bei diesem Projekt habe ich mich mehr mit den Fragen als mit den Antworten auseinander gesetzt. Wer weiss vieleicht findest du deine Antwort?
Neil Alden Armstrong war der erste Mensch auf dem Mond
Aber warum?
Warum konnte es nicht eine Frau sein?
Warum konnte es nicht eine Person of Color sein?
Oder beides?
Diese Fragen bilden die Basis für das Projekt Moon.
Haben sie sich schon mal überlegt, wie es wäre die erste Frau auf dem Mond landen zu lassen. Und was wäre wenn es eine Person of Color ist?
Genau das habe ich gemacht und auf diese Art und Weise hinterfragt, warum das erst heute möglich sein soll.
Die Mondlandung ist nun über 50 Jahre her. Dazumal waren Rassismus, Sexismus und Geschlechter Ungleichheit teil des täglichen Lebens. Heute hat sich das deutlich verbessert, was mich sehr freut. Doch leider sind diese Eigenschaften noch immer tief in unserer Gesellschaft verankert.
Moon ist ein Statement gegen all diese Eigenschaften
Für jeden Menschen, der in dieser Welt noch immer nicht fair behandelt wird.
Für Gleichheit und Fortschritt
Und vor allem, Liebe
Das Projekt Moon wurde im Sommer 2019 ins Leben gerufen. Anlässlich des 50. Jahrestages der Mondlandung fragte ich mich, warum der erste Mensch auf dem Mond ein weißer Mann war. Ich bin nicht jemand, der Rassismus, Sexismus oder die Ungleichheit der Geschlechter in jedem Detail sieht. Dennoch veranlasste mich diese Frage dazu, meine gute Freundin Joanita Sidi, Künstlerin und Tänzerin aus Zürich, zu fragen, ob sie sich an diesem Projekt beteiligen möchte. So ist "Moon" entstanden. Das Video zeigt eine dunkelhäutige Frau, die die ersten Schritte auf dem Mond nachspielt. Der Mond ist durch ein 270cm x 205cm grosses Acrylbild dargestellt, das ich auf Holz eingefräst, gemalt/lackiert und abgekratzt habe. Das Lied im Hintergrund wurde ebenfalls von mir unter dem Künstlernamen Uzual Suzpect produziert. Die sehr gelungenen Aufnahmen und der geniale Schnitt des Videos ist Florian Herzog zu verdanken, welcher mich mit seiner Kamera beim Projekt begleitet hat.
Dieses Projekt war definitiv eines der intensivsten und grössten, das ich bisher gemacht habe. Es war anstrengend und ermüdend, aber vor allem war es wunderschön. Die Hunderten von Stunden Arbeit bis spät in die Nacht haben ihre Spuren hinterlassen, aber trotzdem war es jeden Schweisstropfen wert.
