Needs! Needs?
From the first impression, the 36 columns of light projected on the wall behind the furniture are striking. The front with the painting is brought into focus by an LED strip, which is milled to 6mm. On the one hand, the image shows big luxury brands and the comments on their Instagram pages, where people shout their need for the latest Gucci bag. On the other hand, it features a girl painted in "Banksy" spray technique on her way to fetch her daily water - a very different yet much more important need that contrasts with our consumerism craze. The sideboard itself offers enough space for various objects and has two interior drawers, which are especially striking because of the many details. The pink aluminum rods and a Swarovski stone provide additional contrast.

Needs! Needs? is a piece of furniture that deals with the consumer behavior of people. It should question which needs are really important and which of them are just luxury or unnecessary status symbols. The sideboard is not aimed at luxury brands and fashion designers, but above all at the consumer. To become clear to oneself, what do I really need and what maybe not. Can I be happy with what I have and are my worries about the shoes ordered perhaps a little too big really worries?
The interior of the sideboard stands out with its aluminum tubes built in my typical style and the two abstract scraped drawers. The left drawer, in other words, the sad, greedy drawer is 55 x 18 cm and therefore the larger of the two. It was deliberately chosen by me a little larger and placed on the left side. The reason for this is the inscription NEEDS! which is on the edge of the drawer front. This again reflects needs which one believes to need. For this reason also the exclamation mark. Even in real life, the things you think you need are more than you really need. Which is the reason for the size of the drawer.
Inside the drawer is a canister to see from which a liquid has leaked. As already alluded to in the front, this is the canister of the girl who runs several hours every day just to get water. Unfortunately, on this day, due to the constant heavy use, a hole appeared in it and the water was thus able to escape.
The right drawer, the valuable drawer is 45cm x 12cm. On the upper edge of this drawer is the word NEEDS? to read, which by the question mark, directly asks the question, what are my "Needs"? The answer to this question, if you answer honestly, is usually smaller than you think. Which is also the reason for the size of the drawer. However, what is the case with these "Needs" is that they are usually much more important and valuable.
The drawer itself features its own version of the Hello Kitty figure. If you look closely, you can see that the water-bearing girl on the furniture front wears the same hair bow. However, her's is anything but first-hand.

Schon auf den ersten Eindruck, fallen die Lichtsäulen die hinter dem Möbel an die Wand projiziert werden auf. Das Bild und somit die Front wird von einem LED Band in den Fokus genommen, welcher auf 6mm eingefräst ist. Auf der Front sind die grossen Luxusmarken schon von weitem zu erkennen. Wer genau hinsieht, sieht auch das in „Banksy“ Spraytechnik lackierte Afrikanische Mädchen auf dem Weg zu täglichen Wasser holen. Stunden laufen um Wasser zu holen gehören zu ihrem Alltag.
Besonders weil man Wasser auch wirklich braucht. Auf Instagram sind mir diverse Kommentare ins Auge gestochen, mit welchen uns die User über ihren grössten Wunsch oder ihre unbedingt nötigen Bedürfnisse informieren. Einige davon hoffentlich ironisch, andere Tod ernst.

Needs! Needs? ist ein Möbelstück das sich mit dem Konsumverhalten der Menschen auseinander setzt. Es soll hinterfragen welche Bedürfnisse wirklich wichtig sind und welche davon nur Luxus oder unnötige Statussymbole sind. Das Sideboard richtet sich in nicht an die Luxusmarken und die Modedesigner, sondern vor allem an den Konsumenten. Sich selbst mal klar werden, was brauche ich wirklich und was vielleicht doch nicht. Kann ich mich glücklich schätzen mit dem was ich habe und sind meine Sorgen um die vielleicht etwas zu gross bestellten Schuhe wirklich Sorgen?
Der Innenbereich vom Sideboard fällt auf durch seine in meinem typischen Stil eingebauten Aluminium Rohre und die zwei abstrakt abgekratzten Schubladen. Die Linke Schublade, mit anderen Worten, die traurige, gierige Schublade ist 55 x 18 cm und somit die grössere der beiden. Sie wurde von mir absichtlich etwas grösser gewählt und auf der linken Seite platziert. Der Grund dafür ist die Aufschrift welche sich auf der Kante der Schublade befindet. NEEDS! Was quasi bedetet, BEDRÜRFNISSE! oder BENÖTIGT! Das wiederrum wiederspiegelt Bedürfnisse die man vermeintlich glaubt zu brauchen. Aus diesem Grund auch das Ausrufezeichen. Auch im echten Leben sind die dinge die man glaubt zu brauchen mehr als dass man wirklich braucht. Was der Grund für die Grössenwahl der Schublade ist.
Im innern der Schublade ist ein Kanister zu sehen aus dem eine Flüssigkeit ausgelaufen ist. Wie bereits in der Front darauf angespielt ist das der Kanister des Mädchens das jeden Tag mehrere Stunden läuft um überhaupt nur an Wasser zu kommen. Leider ist an diesem Tag auf Grund der ständigen starken Abnutzung ein Loch darin entstanden und das Wasser konnte somit auslaufen.
Die Rechte Schublade, die wervolle Schublade ist 45cm x 12cm gross. Auf der oberen Kante dieser Schublade ist das Wort NEEDS? zu lesen, welches einem durch das Fragezeichen, direkt die Frage stellt, was sind meine “Needs“? Die Antwort darauf fällt wenn man sie ehrlich beantwortet meistens kleiner aus als man glaubt. Was auch Grund für die Grösse der Schublade ist. Was allerdings bei diesen “Needs“ der Fall ist, ist dass diese meistens deutlich wichtiger und wertvoller sind.
In der Schublade selbst ist eine eigene Version der Hello Kitty Figur zu sehen. Wer dabei genau hingeschaut hat, kann sehen dass das Wassertragende Mädchen auf der Möbelfront die selbe Haarschleife trägt. Allerdings ist ihres alles andere als aus erster Hand.
